FAQ - Camping Stove

Answers to the questions our customers ask most about this product category.

General

What type of butane canister is compatible with the GVDV Portable Camping Stove XX-B029-3049?

To ensure safe and seamless operation, your stove requires a standard 8 oz (220g) Notched-Nozzle Butane Canister (also known as a Bayonet / Collar-Notch Canister).

Please verify the following specifications when purchasing fuel:

Net Weight: 8 oz (220g)

Canister Dimensions: Approx. 65 mm (2.56 in) Diameter × 200 mm (7.87 in) Height

Nozzle Type: Standard Notched Collar Nozzle (Not a needle refill valve)

Can I use a "Butane Gas Lighter Refill" canister for my camping stove?

No. Butane lighter refill canisters (often sold in 300ml/10.6oz sizes with needle adapters) are engineered specifically for refillable pocket lighters. They are physically too long, lack the proper notched collar locking rim, and will not fit or lock into the stove’s fuel compartment safely. Always select canisters labeled specifically for portable camping stoves.

Where can I buy compatible 220g butane canisters?

A: Standard 8 oz / 220g notched butane canisters are universally available across major retailers. You can easily find them in the camping/outdoor section of Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Lowe's, local sporting goods stores, or on online platforms like Amazon.

Search Tip: Search for "8 oz notched collar butane canister for camping stove" or "220g nozzle type butane fuel."

The fuel canister does not lock into the compartment or seems too long. What should I check?

If your canister is not locking smoothly into place, please perform these 3 quick checks:

Verify Canister Type: Ensure you are using an 8 oz (220g) camping canister, not a taller lighter-refill tall can.

Align the Notch: Locate the notch (cutout) on the metal collar of your butane can. Align this notch directly with the safety guide tab inside the stove's lever lock mechanism before pressing down the locking lever.

Check Safety Lock: Ensure the control dial is set completely to the OFF position before attempting to engage the canister locking lever.
