Answers to the questions our customers ask most about this product category.

FPE-20

How to use the Pellet Adapter and Ash Grate?

First, place the ash grate into the fire pit. Then position the pellet adapter and load the fire starter into it. Finally, add the items you wish to burn into the fire pit.

What is the bottom metal piece with the handle inside the fire pit?

It is the Ash Grate, which serves as the elevated base for your fuel inside the fire pit.

Do wood pellets or firewood go on top of or below the ash grate?

All fuel (wood pellets or firewood) must be placed ON TOP of the ash grate. Never place fuel underneath it.

Do I need to remove the ash grate when adding more pellets?

No. Keep the ash grate at the bottom of the fire pit at all times; simply pour additional pellets directly on top of it.

What is the small (2-inch) metal mesh basket used for?

It is the Pellet Adapter (Mesh Cup), designed specifically to hold small wood pellets together so they do not fall through the grate slots into the ash pan.

How do I use the pellet adapter basket?

Place the mesh basket over the center of the bottom ash grate before pouring your wood pellets directly into and around it.

What is the silver/metal ring on top of the Ash Grate used for?

It is the Flame Ring (Top Ring), which redirects airflow inward during burning to produce a clean, concentrated, and smokeless flame.

The handle allows you to easily and safely lift the flame ring off the fire pit once the unit has completely cooled down after use.

Can I burn both standard firewood and wood pellets in the FPE-20 fire pit?

A: Yes, the FPE-20 supports both fuel types. Just remember to use the included pellet adapter basket whenever you burn wood pellets.

Operating Phenomena & Safety Guidelines

Why does my "Smokeless" fire pit still produce some smoke?

The Science: "Smokeless" refers to a design that optimizes airflow to achieve secondary combustion, which significantly reduces smoke. However, per the laws of physics, smoke is a natural byproduct of burning organic matter. Absolute "zero smoke" is impossible for any open flame.

Fuel Matters: The amount of smoke is 90% dependent on your fuel. Using damp wood, softwoods (like pine), or debris will create smoke.

Solution: For the best experience, use kiln-dried hardwoods and allow the fire pit to reach a high temperature to engage the smokeless airflow system.

I used the fire pit on moist grass, and it left a burnt patch. Is the unit defective?

The Science: This is a result of sustained radiant heat transfer, not a product defect. Even with an elevated base, the intense heat from the fire continuously radiates downward. This heat dries out and eventually scorches any flammable material underneath (grass, wooden decks, or carpets).

Safe Placement: It is a fundamental safety rule to keep heat sources away from combustibles.

Recommendation: To protect your property, only use the fire pit on non-flammable surfaces such as concrete, paving stones, or bare soil. If using on a deck, a professional high-temperature fire pit mat is required.
