FAQ - Inflatable Decorations

Answers to the questions our customers ask most about this product category.

Product Specifications & Pre-purchase

What is included in the GVDV inflatable decoration package?
  • The standard package includes: - 1 x Inflatable Decoration with Built-in Blower Fan & LED Lights
  • 1 x Power Adapter / Plug
  • Built-in / External Weight Bags (for sand or water)
  • Ground Stakes & Tether Ropes
  • 1 x Instruction Manual
How long does it take for the inflatable decoration to fully inflate?

Inflation time depends on the height of your decoration:

  • 5–6 FT: 1–2 minutes
  • 7–8 FT: 2–3 minutes
  • 9–10 FT: 3–5 minutes
Should I inspect and test-inflate my holiday decoration immediately upon delivery?

Yes! We strongly recommend opening and test-inflating your decoration immediately upon delivery, even if you purchased it months ahead for a future holiday season.

Testing immediately ensures everything works perfectly and allows us to provide instant replacement support under active warranty if any shipping damage occurred. Issues reported after long-term storage outside the eligible warranty period will not be covered.

Assembly & Setup

What are the quick step-by-step setup stages for this inflatable decoration?

Follow these 3 quick stages:

  1. Place Base Weights: Fill weight bags with water/sand, wipe the outsides completely dry, unzip the bottom/back of the inflatable, place them inside, and fully zip it shut.
  2. Inflate: Plug in the blower fan to inflate the decoration.
  3. Anchor: Tie tether ropes to the side loops (under arms or torso) with double knots and stake them out into the ground at a 45-degree angle.
Where and how should I use the weight bag?

The weight bag is designed to stabilize your inflatable and keep it upright. Please follow these steps:

  1. Fill the bag with water/sand, wipe the outside completely dry and ensure it is sealed tightly.
  2. Unzip the bottom or back of the inflatable decoration.
  3. Place the filled bag inside the base of the inflatable to provide weight.
What should I do if my inflatable inflates but won't stand upright?
  1. Insert ground stakes through the fabric rings at the bottom base into the ground.
  2. Pull the side tether ropes at a 45-degree angle in a cross pattern to balance tension evenly on both sides.
  3. Ensure the internal weight bags are positioned centrally at the bottom.
How do I anchor 4 side fabric loops if I only have 2 ground stakes?

You can tie two ropes from the same side to a single ground stake in a "V" shape, or anchor the two primary upper-body side loops to the two ground stakes for maximum wind resistance.

How do I secure the tether ropes to the ground stakes properly?

Tie one end of the rope securely to the side fabric loop on the inflatable. Tie the other end to the hook on top of a ground stake, pull the rope outward at a 45-degree angle until taut, and drive the stake firmly into the ground.

Is it safe to place water weight bags inside an inflatable near electrical wires?

Yes, it is 100% safe as long as the caps are screwed on tightly and the outsides of the weight bags are wiped completely dry before placing them inside the base.

Can I use sand or gravel instead of water in the weight bags?

Yes! Filling the weight bags with dry sand, gravel, or small stones works just as well to keep the inflatable upright and stable against wind.

Usage & Maintenance

Can the inflatable decoration be used outdoors in heavy rain or freezing snow?

The fabric and fan are weather-resistant for light rain and outdoor moisture. However, the power adapter must be kept completely dry (inside a waterproof outlet cover). In heavy storms, torrential rain, or severe snowfall, please unplug, deflate, and bring it indoors to prevent water from entering the blower fan or heavy snow from crushing the frame.

Can I run the inflatable fan continuously 24/7 throughout the holiday season?

While the fan motor is rated for extended outdoor use, we recommend giving the motor a break after 8–12 hours of continuous operation. Turning it off overnight or when no one is home extends motor life and saves electricity.

How do I clean and store my inflatable decoration after the holiday season?

Unplug the unit, open the bottom zipper, and allow all air to escape completely. Wipe the fabric surface clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Ensure the fabric and fan housing are 100% dry before folding loosely into the box/bag to prevent mold, mildew, or electrical oxidation during off-season storage.

What is the maximum wind speed this inflatable can withstand?

Inflatables secured with internal weight bags, base stakes, and 45-degree guy ropes can handle light to moderate breezes (up to 15–20 mph). Unplug and deflate the item immediately during high wind warnings or storm gusts.

Can I plug multiple inflatable decorations into a single outdoor extension cord?

Yes, provided the extension cord and outdoor outlet meet standard wattage requirements and are equipped with a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter). Keep all plug connections raised off the ground and protected with a waterproof connection box.

Quality

What should I do if my inflatable isn't working or won't fully inflate?

Perform a quick check of these 4 key points:

  • Zipper Check: Ensure the zipper at the bottom or back is fully closed.
  • Fan Check: Check if the fan is spinning and blowing air when plugged in.
  • Air Intake: Ensure no grass, leaves, or fabric obstacles are blocking the fan's air intake underneath.
  • Surface Inspection: Inspect the fabric surface for torn seams or holes letting air escape.

What should I do if the built-in LED lights aren't turning on or are only partially lighting up?

Partial lighting usually happens when an internal wire connector gets loosened during transit. Please perform these quick steps:

  • Check Internal Connectors: Unzip the bottom/back zipper of the inflatable and inspect the light wiring inside. Check if the tiny plastic plug/connector between the working light segment and the dark segment has come loose. Re-plug it firmly.
  • Untangle Internal Wires: Ensure the internal light wires are not tangled, pinched, or caught in the fabric folds.

(If the issue persists, please send us your Order ID and a short photo or video showing the dark light segment for warranty assistance).

Why does the new inflatable have a strong / pungent chemical odor right out of the box?

This is completely normal for newly printed, sealed synthetic Oxford/polyester materials. Place the inflated decoration in a well-ventilated outdoor area for 0.5–1.0 days, and the smell will dissipate naturally.

The propeller on my Santa Claus inflatable isn't rotating. How can I fix it?

If the propeller fails to spin after plugging in, follow these 5 troubleshooting steps:

  • Verify Power: Ensure the plug is fully inserted into the outlet. Test the socket with another device (like a lamp) to confirm power.
  • Check the Fan: Listen to see if the fan motor is running and blowing air.
  • Clear Obstructions: Check the propeller axle for jamming. Remove foreign objects like loose threads, hair, or twigs wrapped around the axle.
  • Secure Connections: Inspect the attachment point where the propeller meets the fan. If loose, re-tighten or re-fix the connection.
  • Inspect for Damage: Check for tears or air leaks near the propeller mechanism that may cause a loss of air pressure.

(Still not spinning? Record a short video showing the issue and message us with your Order ID at support@gvdv.com).

What should I do if the blower fan becomes hot or makes a abnormal loud buzzing noise?

Unplug the unit immediately. Check if dry leaves, dirt, or foreign objects have been sucked into the fan intake grill. Clear all debris before plugging back in. If the fan continues to grind or overheat, send your Order ID and a short video clip for a replacement fan.
